Brussels: 1 day, 2 museums

We’re off to Brussels for a day with a little one in tow. Between two naps, I recommend two absolute gems to visit in the heart of the capital: the Musical Instruments Museum… and the Beer Museum! 🙂

The Musical Instruments Museum

Grab your headphones and set off to discover the sounds of ancient instruments from Europe and around the world! The kasso, the theremin, or even the tar-mesmerizing, to say the least-which I suggest you listen to as you read. This museum is a treasure trove of rare instruments, but also a masterpiece in itself: a stunning example of Art Nouveau architecture.
One can’t help but pay tribute to the Belgian inventor of the saxophone, Adolphe Sax, and marvel at his creations-some of which are highly imaginative, though sadly now forgotten. This museum is perfect for a child, but it might be a bit ambitious for a toddler. If that’s the case, head to the Belgian Beer World Experience!

What do you mean, it’s not a museum? Well, you’ll still learn plenty about the history of brewing through the centuries-and all in a fun, interactive way. The place really leans into hands-on activities for kids, letting them pretend to be brewers for an hour.
Don’t miss the immersive activity where a tiny bacterium explains the delicate art of fermentation! Once again, the setting is spectacular: the former Brussels Stock Exchange, now beautifully renovated. The cherry on top: your ticket gets you a beer of your choice from 150 options, to enjoy on the rooftop with a 360° view of Brussels. Cheers! The ticket also includes access to an archaeological tour-but I missed that part.

Music and beer-what more could you ask for?

So, hop on an Eurostar or a TGV and go have your own adventure!
