For a month, the Tripostal exhibition centre in Lille will be hosting a new kind of factory: the Cococh Industry. With the help of video mapping, immerse yourself in a world that’s both poetic and cynical.
Animalis Machina: animals at the service of mankind
Franck Dion, who imagined this futuristic factory, started from a thought by Descartes: ‘Animals are machines without souls’. Unwinding the thread, he created this place that would operate bio-mechanical animals powered by AI, producing synthetic meat, pre-cut slices of sushi or on-demand entertainment calibrated for social networks. Supported by the Lille Museum of Natural History, this project holds up a mirror to our relationship with animals through a projection that is both extreme and full of humour.

A poetic immersive installation
Thanks to the talent of Franck Dion, illustrator and director of animated films, these animals are a real visual success. They are delightfully childlike and appeal to a young audience (aged 8 and over). But by taking up the codes of the tech industry, they also offer to the grown up a lucid look at the thirst for productivity. The installation is ingenious, with videos projected continuously onto 3D boards to create an effect of volume. And the ambient industrial music plays a big part in immersing us in this world.

This unclassifiable exhibition has a sweet and bitter taste, one that won’t leave you once you’ve slammed the door on this imaginary factory.
